The Van

Everyone thinks the dangerous job is the one inside the building. They are wrong, but you can see why they think it, the building is where the cameras and the guards are. I have done forty-one jobs with this crew and i have never once been inside a building. i sit in the van. i am the Operator. when Renna is in a vent and Castle is talking down a guard and the whole thing is balanced on a knife, the voice in their ear telling them which way to lean is mine. and here is the thing nobody who writes about heist crews understands. the person in the van is the only one who can see the whole board, and seeing the whole board means seeing, in real time, every way each of your friends might die, all of them at once, and choosing which warnings to give and which to swallow because there is not enough time to say all of them. forty-one jobs. i have gotten good at the choosing. i have not gotten good at the after, the part where i sit in the van and shake.
