The Whale Road

Old sailors say the deep ocean has roads, if you can read them, and that the longest road of all is walked by something too big to be a whale. When the trade-ship Gull's Mercy is becalmed for nine days, her cabin boy hears that road singing — and learns the ship has been promised to it.
